RE: Intel to skip Vista upgrade

Vista is one of the best things Microsoft has ever done. For Apple Macintosh sales, that is!:B

RE: Memphis to Birmingham

It's the closest thing to being an interstate without being an interstate. The only reason it ISN'T an interstate is because it has no direct connection to an interstate. Work is progressing on the last few miles in Alabama which will connect the road to I-65. Then, and only then, will that section of U.S. 78 become I-22.

RE: Oil Prices - Hidden Good news

'Cause the Eco-freaks will do everything in their power to make certain we're not allowed to tap into it and refine it.They will not rest until every RV and SUV is sent to the crusher, every American pays $10 a gallon for gas, and every commuter drives a Smart car or a Prius. Or rides a bicycle. Or walks. If you live in the country, and can't use mass transit, according to the green crowd, it's YOUR fault you can't ride the bus or the subway. YOU were the one who wanted a decent quality of life, where you didn't live in an apartment building with walls so thin you could hear your neighbor pass gas.

RE: Update info on Topsail Hill Campground in FL

Yes, it's the state government, and I will wager that all of those construction projects and other plans will be put on hold. No money in the budget, and unlike the feds, Florida must balance its budget every year by constitutional edict. That and the slowdown in RV traffic due to the high cost of fuel is hurting state and private campgrounds in Florida alike.

RE: Questions for 6.0 Ford diesel owners.

Preach - check for "your" problem on one of the Ford Diesel forums, like - "The Diesel Stop" - sometimes more info available on the "brand specific" forums. JC Try www.superdutydiesel.com. You'll get better advice without all of the bashing of 6.0 engines. Those guys at TDS whine so much about their 'lemon' trucks (which I bet they don't even HAVE) that I'm tempted to send them a wheel of Wisconsin's finest. As for the advice that you drive the truck for a few hundred miles after a reflash or a computer replacement, that is sound advice. It takes that long to get the computer to dial in all of the particular parameters for your specific truck. But a dirty or defective injector is also a possibility. 63K on my 6.0 and ZERO problems.

RE: Diesel Prices Coming Down?

Go to McDonald's get their used oil, and cut it with 10% kerosene or diesel.....then drive for 90% less...no mods required. Many a dealership has made thousands of dollars in repairs to newer trucks owned by people who believe such savings are capable in the newer diesels. Now if you have a clapped out thirty year old Mercedes, that stuff will work just fine. By the way, most McDonalds won't give you their oil. Golden State Foods runs their big rig fleet on used fryer oil from Mickey D's restaurants they supply.

RE: Walmart

I've stayed over for a few hours at a Wal-Mart. I've stayed over for a few hours at a Flying J. Both places made me feel welcome, I asked permission and it was cheerfully granted. If I needed to open the slide (necessary to use the bathroom area) I made sure I was in a space where I wouldn't cause a traffic bottleneck. When I camp, I stay in state parks, national forests, or CoE facilities, or in military famcamps. All inexpensive places to stay, and where I prefer to get away instead of the so-called RV resorts that wouldn't let me in anyway. While my TV is fairly new, my fiver is over ten years old, and immediately identifies me solely by its age as someone who DOESN'T use American Express, because I don't have enough money to HAVE the card. So if this makes me a cheap SOB in the eyes of the OP or others, my retort is to get a &&*(* life and stop worrying about what other people are doing. If the management has a problem with homesteaders, it's MANAGEMENT'S problem. No one appointed you the parking police. Disgrace my arse. If you own a campground or RV resort and feel Wally World is cheating you out of the opportunity to charge me for everything from the number in my party to the size of my rig, too darn bad. For what some of these so called resorts charge a night, I can stay in a local motel with cable and a pool for the same money.

RE: Any problems with no front Florida plate?

In spite of what you see on TV and the movies, most vehicles in Florida do not have a front plate issued. Some semi trucks are an exception, and they display a front plate only. Hollywood NEVER gets it right.

RE: Bed liner and 5th wheel Hitch???

Not if you want to keep your fiver hitched up. The plastic prevents the hitch from being secured tightly to the bed of the truck. Eventually the hitch will loosen and the bolts will rip out of the bed. Then you will watch your fiver go into the ditch, or worse. Lose the plastic bed liner. You can have a spray-in liner and make that work.

RE: Alert!!! Morgan RV inc. not pet friendly!!!!!!!!!

INSURANCE.....BULL ****... It is just a cop out....It is easy for them to use the so called "aggressive" list of dog instead of enforcing common sense rules...what about the mutts...when you start with a mixed breed you never know what you have and I have not seen them on any "insurance list"....what is next...may be bikes should be banned... I see alot more kids with skinned up and stitched up arms and legs from bikes than dog bites. JohnnyR Thank you for the heads up...."As far as there park their rules" I will be sure not to stay at any camps they own or buy...As consumers we have more power than most know....look how many pet related adds you see on TV...pet owners are a very large portion of our society...I would not want to tick them off. My HOMEOWNERS insurance has these clauses: No coverage for dog liability. PERIOD. ALL BREEDS. No coverage for trampoline liability. Have a trampoline, get a cancellation notice. No coverage for home day care. Must have six foot privacy fence around back yard because I have a swimming pool. Yes, they check. The agent came out and took pictures. Roof must be 2002 or newer. I replaced the roof this year after having the roof replaced in 2001. The Florida Building Code changed since 2001, and of course, the roof cost more. For those who suggest I change insurance companies, I either stay with this company or go into the state windstorm pool and pay four times as much. Remember, this is Florida, where nearly every national insurer has pulled out of the market. With apologies to those on this board who are insurance agents, I think the insurance industry is scum on a shingle. A pox on the lot of them.

RE: old silicone removal

Lacquer thinner. I'm cleaning up the interior of a van now, have gone through a half-gallon so far. But the trim inside looks a lot cleaner, it also gets rid of stuck on adhesive.

RE: tv antenna gear replacement

Antennas are antennas. Digital TV signals are using the same frequencies as VHF and UHF analog television. If you can pick up analog TV with your antenna now, you can pick up digital TV now and after the transition in February. "Digital ready" antennas are merely a marketing ploy.

RE: New Policy ??

not a place I would take kids, not much for them to do. You're kidding, right? With a beautiful large size pool, nice new style playground playset, two tennis courts, full basketball court, two ponds to fish in, wagon rides, library in the clubhouse, movies shown in the clubhouse on a large screen TV, pool table, video game room, and several organized kids activites on weekends, it sure looks like the kids I see are having a great time. But those of us with clean, well cared for rigs that are over 10 years old need not apply. If a RV 'gated community' is your idea of relaxation and RV life, you can have it. The rest of us will avoid such snobbish places. I don't think that I should have to submit to a rig inspection, show my bank balance, or have my D&B and Equifax run just to park in a so called 'resort'. My money is as green as that of anyone else. I just don't have enough on hand to buy a Prevost conversion for cash. I meet a better class of people in state parks and Forest Service campgrounds anyway. So what if there is no swimming pool. I have one of those at home.

RE: Florida Sales Tax Grab Just For Us !!!!!

I just made a reservation at Geronimo RV park in Destin for 2 nights 5-20-08 through 5-04-08. It is $65.00 per night plus 11% tax. Total per night is $72.15. Darling niece wants to have a beach wedding. There better be gold in that there sand! The county has to have some way of paying for beach restoration, a white elephant of a conference center, an emergency operations center only three feet above sea level on a barrier island. and a gold plated courthouse for the judges and lawyers of Okaloosa County. May I add that the residents were dead set against all of these projects, a referendum was held, the people said NO! The county commissioners told the residents "we know what is best for you" and built or are building all of those taxpayer funded albatrosses. Don't blame the residents, blame the "public be damned" government here.

RE: Any Problems w/ Ford or Dodge Diesel Trucks ('02 to present)

Well Howie on the other channel ;) about 80% of the ford owners with the 6.0 have had issues with turbos, head gaskets and head studs no matter what year but not one of the GM or Dodge owners have had any real problems. Even though every one of them ford owners will argue that their ford are the best. I have an 03 and 06 with the Duramax in them and have had no motor or trans problems with either. I did get a letter from GM regarding the injectors and they extended the warranty to 200,000 because of the known issues with them. I say stick with what you know and love :C Eighty percent, huh? Bullfeathers. SHOW me your unbiased, statistically validated information. You CAN'T, because it is more FUD from a person with an axe to grind against Ford, or a die-hard GM or Mopar head. I'll state what my dealer mechanic, who I trust because he is straight with me, that many of the problems with the 6.0 are owner inflicted, with the use of tuners and chips that cause head gasket failures, head bolt stretching, turbo failures, and coolant puking. For all of the badmouthing of the 6.0, usually by those whose friend of a friend of a friend had problems with them, I have YET to meet a fellow 6.0 owner that has problems. I had one 'problem', a suspected rear seal leak that was traced to an abundance of assembly lube put there when the engine was manufactured by International. In other words, NO failure, just a sloppy mess that went away on its own. Duramax engines have experienced injector problems. Dodges have problems with transmissions and rattletrap body work. Ford had a wiring loom problem that caused engine malfunctions in the 2003-2004 6.0 engines. 2005 and up 6.0 engines have been remarkably trouble free. I have 60K on my F-250, the engine is rock solid and the transmission is the cat's meow. In other words, there is not a single manufacturer that has NOT had problem products. It's how they stand behind their products that makes the difference. I'm very happy with the way that Ford has honored its warranty with my truck. I am sticking with what I know and love. When you see a Dodge parked in front of my house, either one of two events has happened. I have a visitor, or I have died and my wife's new boyfriend is a Mopar fanatic.:B When I get a cut, I bleed Ford blue.

RE: How are you going to get T.V. in Feb. 09?

I am going to be one of those people who will REFUSE to upgrade my TV. There is nothing wrong with it. It works fine. I just bought it a year ago and I normally keep my TVs for 10-15 years and I will be DAMNED if I am going to go buy a new one or get a "converter" when there is nothing wrong with it. The FCC can go stick it! I don't understand what the FCC has to do with my TV, anyway. If anything it should be the DOT if any government agency has a problem with TV's. This is just another case of government bureaucracies over reaching their authority. How can you make a "digital" diesel TV anyway? Do you binary encode the fuel? Where do you plug this box in? They will probably make these boxes only for a few selected makes and models of TV's and everyone else will have to buy new TV's. Next thing, it will be digital weight distribution hitch or a digital slider hitch. When are we going to put our foot down and stop the government from overstepping its bounds?!?! I do hope your post is in jest. Please. TV involves RADIO signals. Doubt my word? If channel six broadcasts in your area, tune your radio to 87.5 MHZ FM. You'll HEAR the audio from the tv station! Radio and other wireless communications are governed by the FCC. The DOT governs transportation. They have an agreement. The FCC doesn't run weigh stations and police commercial transport, the DOT doens't handle broadcast licenses and interference complaints. If you're keeping TVs for fifteen years, you HAVE to be tossing them when they fail. The manufacturers don't make parts for that long! The new sets are more energy efficient, can bring in more channels, the digital broadcasting process is more efficient in putting more channels in the same space. Even the picture is better. Regulation of TV IS a government function, and has been since the earliest days of TV. Again, I hope you were joking....
